It’s unclear exactly how it works and there seems to be no current documentation, but it appears that you send your Page’s updates to Facebook via your activated mobile phone and FB sends it to the appropriate Page based on which mobile number the update came from.

Two things are for sure. This is an indispensable tool for anyone with a Page, and the functionality will certainly improve in the future, more than likely through implementation in future mobile versions of the Facebook app.
